Your Dog… Your Rules by Kelly Murrell
We think we can all agree that there are certain areas of training that our dogs need in order to be super canine citizens! For example; it’s really not appropriate for your dog to go and gate crash a family picnic and help themselves to the food, or generally wreak havoc when out and about, or steal food from the kitchen counter, etc, etc. We could go on!
There are certain rules that are really up to you
- Whether you decide if your dog is able to get comfy on the sofa or on your bed, it’s up to you.
- Where your dog sleeps at night, it’s up to you.
- Whether you allow your dog to jump up on you, it’s up to you – and they can certainly differentiate.
Put it on Cue
So if you are okay with it, but don’t want them jumping on everyone else, put it on cue (verbal or visual). Essentially, in most situations, it’s your dog and your rules! You just have to decide what is right for you.
And remember, what is right for one person, may not be right for another. We are all enjoying our individual training journey’s with our dogs!
