For this part of the walk you’ll follow the Two Moors Way to Withypool, before heading into the village of Exford. Along the way you’ll experience gentle hills, river valleys and several lanes.

Starting from the centre of Hawkridge, take the turning that is signposted “Withypool 3”. After a short distance turn right onto a well-way marked footpath signposted “Tarr Steps 1”, and follow through the fields for 1km.

Emerging from a field follow the path downhill signed to Parsonage Farm. As you pass the farmhouse on your right, bear right into a smaller lane. After the first wooden gate bear left along a bridleway, following it across the fields until you meet a tarmac road. Turn right and follow the road to Withypool.

Cross the bridge and after 200 metres (past the Royal Oak pub) take the path on the left signposted “Exford Via Room Hill”. Follow the waymarkers uphill until you meet a tarmac road, crossing straight over and onto a bridleway signed “Exford 2”. From the gateway head North. You’ll need to head slightly off-path here, traversing through some gorse – you will eventually pickup a track up. Follow this path until you descend into a farmyard. Turn right in the Farmyard onto a path signed for “Exford” and over the bridge. Turn immediately left and follow upstream into Exford.
