Stockpiling – Why do we do it?
Are you someone who stockpiles? Are there certain items that you keep buying? It is interesting what we do buy in bulk and store up in our cupboards. The popular trends seem to veer towards toiletries and, more specifically, toothbrushes, toothpaste and toilet rolls believe it or not!! But have a look for yourself, take a peek in your cupboards and count out the number of items you have of a certain type. You may be surprised.
There are a number of reasons that for stockpiling, but whatever your reasons, it really is not worth it! There is no need to keep huge supplies which take up a lot of space and clutter up your home. So first step would be to work out what you have an abundance of, and then to get rid of any excess. Pop it all out on your kitchen table, you may be surprised! Count it up and see it all – put all your items out on show.
The way to deal with the extras you have accumulated are to:
- Give away any excess stock
- Think sensibly – when you run out of something , you can always go to the shop and simply buy more.
- It is not as if we are rationed, or that the shops aren’t open 7 days a week.
- We can also shop online 24 hours a day now, so you will never be out of anything for long
And once you have started to sort out your stuff, category by category and reduced the number of possessions, you will never look back. will come to a point when you realise exactly how much is right for you. This may reflect on your specific interests or taste.
Finally, let’s look at our possessions in general, our clothes, our shoes, our or even things like our hobbies – our books, our musical instruments, or even our home decor such as cushions, rugs, towels etc. When you focus on choosing the things that inspire you with joy, you will start to really enjoy the lifestyle that fits with your standards and preferences. This is when you realise the true pleasure of tidying.
