Milo’s Story

This is me – Milo 🙂

Hey everyone I’m Milo – a brand new Pembroke Welsh Corgi and I’ve just moved to my new home! I was a bit scared when I had to leave my litter mates, but now I’m settling in pretty well! My new owners made me feel welcome by giving me lots of cuddles. I even have a new bed just for me, although I like to sleep in the strangest places!

I get lots of treats for doing the right thing, like being calm but not if I fancy a nibble of the sofa! I really like the black rabbit Oliver that they have – but I guess it’ll take time for him to get used to me! I grew up on a farm so I’m used to seeing different animals around.

I’ve heard a lot of talk about an event coming up – the humans call it Halloween – apparently people get dressed up in scary costumes and knock on doors for tricks or treats – I’m interested in both of these!!!

There are two things that worry me a bit about this day 1 – people visiting that I don’t know and 2 – lots of sweets that I’m not meant to eat. My new owners say that I probably shouldn’t meet and greet the strangers in costumes, because I might be worried or scared. I think the knocking on the door or ringing the bell might made me jump, so I’ll stay away this year until I’m more confident.

saturday-stories-milo-3Molly, my Mum, says that I can have a Kong filled with tasty treats – that’ll make me feel better!!! I know that chocolate and sweets just aren’t for dogs even though they taste yummy. So I try not to eat them, but I’m not sure I’ll be able to help it if they drop in front of me! So it’ll probably be best if my owners keep them well away just in case I’m tempted.

Something strange has been happening! Every now and again I hear the sound of a gun shot, or a firework or even a car backfiring! Apparently it’s recordings of the sounds to stop me being scared of them – what a funny idea! Anyway, I’m used to them now, they don’t scare me one bit! They say this will help me out for something that’s happening next weekend – who knows what that might be?

I’m excited about the next few weeks in my new home, I think they might start teaching me new tricks like sit and lie down. Whilst I’m still so young I don’t think I’ll be meeting many other dogs just yet, but I’m excited for when I can. I think I’m going to love exploring the walks in my new area – there’s a beach and a forest really close by!
