Ginny, the dog that saved cats
Ginny, a little dog from Long Beach loved cats. In fact she loved them so much she was well known for rescuing them if they were in danger. She just seemed to sniff them out. There are many stories about her rescues. It is believed that she rescued over 18 cats in total.
On one particular occasion, Ginny threw herself against a vertical pipe at a construction site so that it would topple over and the 5 stranded kittens inside could escape. They were only 3 weeks old and Ginny seemed to sense that they were there. This dog was unbelievable!
Another time, Ginny suffered severe cuts on her paws to find an injured cat inside a box of broken glass. On every occasion her owner kept the cats and looked after them so that they spent their lives with Ginny.
There are 2 books written about her. The Dog Who Rescues Cats and The Blessing of the Animals. Her owner, Gonzalez, co-wrote these books and they both have been translated into many languages and are both best-sellers. Ginny died at the ripe old age of 17 with Gonzalez, at home. And of course the 18 cats that lived with them.
