Wednesday Walks – Saltram Boundary Walk
For this dog-friendly walk you’l be heading through parkland and woodland at Saltram Boundary. This is an easier walk in the Plymouth region that should only take 30-40 minutes to complete – ideal for anyone looking for a quick area to walk without having to leave the city.
To start, head to Saltram House car park on the east side of Plymouth. Once you’ve got your dog ready follow the entrance drive and turn right. Follow the footpath uphill signposted for Merafield. At the top turn left and stick to the edge of the field.
You’ll need to cross over the entrance/exit to the estate and then follow the path down a flight of steps. This will take you through some woodland – you’ll know you’re on the correct path as the A38 main road is on your right. At the far end of the woods follow the fenced path through a field into the Plym valley.
At the next turning go left onto Longbridge Drive, which will take you through some minor woodland. You can optionally take a short side-route down a track opposite the sign for Snowdrop Wood Forest School, which will take you to a bench overlooking the saltmarsh. When you’re ready to head on, continue along uphill on Longbridge Drive until you return to the car park.
