Okehampton’s Edwardian Evening – 5 December 2019

Why not get into the Christmas spirit and visit Okehampton’s Edwardian Evening? It’s only an 8 minute drive away from us here at Bowerland. On the first Thursday in December, Okehampton comes alive with festive cheer with the ever popular annual late-night shopping event that takes place in the town centre.

Something for everyone to enjoy!

The event is organised by Everything Okehampton. Local businesses open late to greet both their loyal and new customers offering mulled wine and the occasional mince pie. Edwardian Evening features the Mayor’s Carol Service accompanied by the Okehampton Excelsior Silver Band. You may also find Reindeer in Red Lion Yard. Santa often pays the Museum of Dartmoor Life a visit to meet local and visiting children.

Come hungry!

Pop into the Plume of Feathers where you will find the Elf Outpost. If you’re feeling hungry, Martins butchers will be having a Hog Roast. There’s also Roasted Chestnuts and a traditional barrel organ will fill the streets with music.

Parking

Parking is free in Simmons Park car park after 3pm throughout December. The high street through Okehampton will be closed to traffic between 5.30pm and 9pm.
