Amazingly Simple Tips on Healthy Exercise by Carole Langman
Healthy exercise is the miracle cure that’s always been available, but how many of us really stick to it? Many of us, myself included, have neglected to take our daily dose of exercise. And our health is now suffering as a consequence. Exercise is free, easy to do, and has an immediate effect. People who exercise regularly have a lower risk of developing many long-term health conditions, both physical and mental. So, what’s stopping us?
Here are my top tips to help to motivate you… and they’re so simple!
- Move daily for at least 20 minutes. This can be any type of movement such as walking, dancing, exercise routines, sports, or even things like vacuuming around the house.
- Plan in your daily healthy exercise. A daily walk or perhaps something you can do indoors. Plan it around the weather, sunny days outside, rainy days inside. And stick to it, no matter what, even for 10 minutes only.
- If time pressures take over, put on some music and do some dance steps whilst you are cooking, or cleaning. Don’t let lack of time stop you.
Healthy exercise can be movement of any kind. Throughout my life I have always been aware of the ‘free’ types of exercises you can do. Without the need of joining a gym, a running club or attending a swimming pool. Take for example housework. This can be a great way to use up your excess energy and get a really good workout. You also gain by having a lovely clean house at the end of your session. 🙂
Vacuuming is one way of really burning the calories
But have you thought that cleaning bathrooms and kitchens can also get you moving? Or what about getting down on your hands and knees and scrubbing the floor? You can almost feel the weight dropping off you. Even polishing, cleaning windows, in fact anything that pushes you to pump up the energy. And feel the blood flow. The added bonus is that you have a sparkling clean house to show for it!
Another great way of letting off steam, and getting in a well needed burst of fresh air at the same time, is by actually getting outside. Taking a 10 minute walk (or longer if you have the time). Feeling the sun, the wind, the fresh air on your face works wonders. Or what about some gentle gardening? Even things like dead-heading, weeding, harvesting and planting all helps to burn off the calories, whilst taking in the wonder of nature. A win-win situation all round!
There’s nothing to stop you, it is all there, freely available for you. The only thing stopping you, is you – so don’t let it!
