Breeze, Charlie & Ruby’s Training Holiday by Anne Reid
I had a chance meeting and chat with Lauren at an agility show about an issue I had with Ruby and her confidence. She was very helpful and happy to give me some pointers on what may help to build her confidence back up.
Since meeting Lauren, I also attended a couple of camps and a few Gamechanger weekends. I’m pleased to say that Ruby has grown in confidence since I started using games as training.
Old Dairy
On my most recent stay I attend the September handling camp and noticed the Old Dairy was free. I decided to extend my stay and book additional training.
Both myself and the dogs were well-catered for. Bowerland supplied water bowls, dog bed, treats and a dog toy. There was also a welcome package with marmalade, biscuits and a bottle of delicious wild elderflower bubbly.
Workshops & 121’s
I also decided to take advantage of a couple of workshops and was really pleased with the training I received. I also had 121’s with several different trainers and all my dogs managed to get involved. I like the fact that the workshops are adapted to the dog and handler. If you need to stay at one stage a bit longer that is fine. Also if it is something that you have previously done, there is always a next stage.
11 year old Charlie also participated
I was really impressed at how I could include Charlie in some of the training. She has arthritis and can go lame quite quickly, I mentioned this to Michelle who came up with a couple of suggestions. Charlie was her the first one doing scent work, which she seemed to really enjoy. We now got a scent kit and are continuing at home.
Fit-Bone to improve back leg muscles
Michelle also suggested that we could try doing paws-up to try and improve her back leg muscles by doing paws up on a fit-bone. We continued this at home and so far Charlie not gone lame, or looked tired. Now she has a bit of a spring in her step when we go for a walk!
Highly Recommend
I would highly recommend staying at either the Annexe or Old Dairy and take advantage of the facilities that are available. I have already booked my next 2 visits and am really looking forward to both staying in the cottages and to working with the superb trainers again.
