Dizzy’s 121 Training by Sue Wilson
We adopted Dizzy around 2 years ago, such a beautiful dog but she came with a few issues such as reactivity to dogs and some humans, we employed several behaviourists locally but none of them seemed to be able to work with Dizzy.
I searched on the internet believing someone could help her and help us give her the life she deserved. I came across Devon Dogs and made some enquiries. The staff I spoke with to on the telephone reassured us that they could help us understand Dizz, and what to do to help. So we made a booking for a week in their accommodation and booked a week’s 121 training to run along side our stay.
Upon our arrival we were greeted by very welcoming people, who showed us to our studio accommodation at the Annexe. There was also a lovely welcome pack for both ourselves and Dizzy. The Annexe accommodation was exceptionally clean and very dog friendly, with a lovely garden.
Loads of great walks
There are loads of great walks to do locally with dog friendly pubs for lunch as you are right on the edge of Dartmoor. The town of Okehampton is only a 10 minute drive too with lots of shops and supermarkets if you wanted to self cater. The training we received was fantastic – all very positive based. We enjoyed 121 training everyday and were amazed when we saw Dizzy respond to the training. We left with a plan knowing exactly what we needed to do to continue Dizzy’s progress and training when we returned home.
Dizzy has lots of happy memories at Bowerland
As we live 6 hours away in Norwich, we can’t just pop over for weekly lessons. So the best thing has been to have Skype 121 calls when we need extra help. We have returned to Bowerland 3 more times and we will be returning again next year. We feel at home and Dizzy isn’t judged for been a little anti- social!
The last time we visited Bowerland in June, Dizzy wagged her tail as soon as she saw Michelle and Theresa and went straight to them. Bowerland is obviously a happy place for her too and holds lots of wonderful memories.

About the Author: I am a Sales Manager and my husband is a paramedic and so dog training was alien to us, we needed someone to help and show us how to give Dizz the life she deserves numerous people had already given up on her and she had been returned to the Dogs Trust several times, even with her problems we weren’t going to give up on her and I can honestly say we feel without finding this fantastic place and the trainers it would have been difficult but we are enjoying watching her change and grow every day.
