Discover New Reasons for Being Nice

“It’s nice to be important, but it is more important to be nice.”

Recently I heard that quote again, and it reminded me of what an extremely valuable lesson it is.  To be honest, it is a motto that we should all live by each and every day. Just think about what a difference we can make to each other’s lives simply by being nice?

Random Acts of Kindness

It helps to imagine how the pattern of our lives can be woven from this philosophy. The idea is that we look to set in motion a circular effect that can creates for all of us all we could ever hope for and more. What we do for others will certainly come back to us. A random act of kindness, no matter how small, can make a tremendous impact on someone else’s life. We only need to think about how we feel when it happens to us.

Antimetabole

The actual quote I’m talking about is a figure of speech called an Antimetabole. This is a clever literary technique in which a phrase is repeated, but key words are reversed. A number of people have been attributed to being the instigators of this particular antimetabole. For example, it has been mentioned in a book by philanthropist Robert Dedman, an American, who started his career as a dishwasher and succeeded in becoming a successful millionaire building resorts and clubs.  Well, it certainly worked for him! It has also been attributed to Roger Federer, John Templeton, Walter Winchell to name just a few.

Being nice can help you to succeed in many ways

It seems hard to understand why more people don’t seem to realize that it is important to be nice, and also that it works in your favour as well!  What’s even more thought provoking is that when you are nice, you can also be more successful. Being nice can help you to succeed in many ways. Creating a win-win all round. People will always remember how you made them feel. And don’t you want to be remembered for making people feel good?  I certainly do!
