This week’s walk is an easy 3 mile route starting from Budleigh Salterton and encompassing great views of the Jurassic Coast here in Devon, including the Otter estuary.

As always, your starting point is a car park – this time it’s Lime Kiln car park in Budleigh Salterton, very near the beach.

To start with, if you’d like to take a gander at the views of the Otter estuary then follow the coast path to the far end of the beach. When you’re done return to the car park end of the beach, before turning right up a coastal path towards Ladram Bay. Continue on this coastal path as it follows an old sea wall.

You will eventually reach a bridge. At this point follow the river upstream for just under a kilometre, taking a left at the fork towards Budleigh Salterton onto a path that moves away from the river onto a raised embankment. Stay on the path as it curves to the right, turning left over a stile. Continue along the path, crossing another stile in the process.

Eventually you will need to pass through a kissing gate onto a public footpath headed towards Budleigh Salterton. When you reach the next lane, cross over it and bear left past a play park. The car park you started from will be after the next right turning.
