Our BOOST Training by Michelle Ridge

What an amazing week Archie (our Frenchie), Dom and myself had at Devon Dogs. The weather has been fantastic – sunny everyday. The dog training was outstanding (thank you Michelle); and staying in the Annexe was great.

We arrived the Monday before Easter having travelled from the West Midlands and settled into the Annexe straight away. Having already confirmed our Boost training package days and times it allowed us to go out and about to explore places in both Devon and Cornwall. What could be better?

Places we visited

Places we visited during our time at Bowerland were Bude beach, Plymouth, Padstow and Tavistock. Something to check before visiting the beach is to check tide times if you want to have fun on the sand.

As you may have guessed it, we didn’t and the tide was in. But we did walk along the coast path and enjoyed watching the surfers.

On our way back from Plymouth on the A38 we stopped of at the Dartmoor Diner lots of choice, good food and easy access to the Moor’s for a leisurely walk, we enjoyed it so much we went back a couple of times.

It’s our second visit to Bowerland and won’t be our last!

The Annexe is perfect. It’s welcoming and relaxing from the moment you arrive. Everything you need is provided along with some special extra treats – not just for us but for Archie too. We also ventured out to Roadford Lakes and Prewley Moors in Sourton to take Archie for some lovely walks. Both were recommended in the Bowerland Guest Book for places to walk with your dogs.

Archie is becoming a more confident and optimistic dog

Our training, which was outside in the glorious sunshine, gave me the boost I needed to see just how far Archie had come and how far I’d also progresses since our last visit, Michelle gave us tips to enhance how we play the games with Archie to allow him to think for himself. Since getting back home we are re-energised in playing games and continuing our training. I can already see Archie becoming a more confident and optimistic dog.

michelle ridgeAbout the Author: Hi I’m Michelle Ridge, since taking early retirement following redundancy in November 2016 we got our 1st family dog Archie our very nosey French Bulldog who looking back was always an anxious dog and developed some NBN tendencies. In May 2018 I purchased the Naughty But Nice Puppy Programme and since then I’m hooked on gaining as much info/games to turn Archie’s struggles into strengths. He’s my life along with my husband, Dom, my grown up boys & volunteering to listen to year 1 children read at a local school.

Do you have a training issue you want to tackle? Come and stay with us in our cottage style apartments, right in the heart of Dartmoor, and make the most of our fantastic training facilities onsite.
